Counseling with Teens
The teenage years can be challenging for teens and their parents. Teens go through many changes and face many new pressures. Some of the struggles teens face are a normal part of growing up, like dealing with peer groups, experimenting with new ideas, and going through changes in mood, identity, and interests. Others may reflect more serious difficulties. When teens are going through a rough time, counseling can help them discover ways to overcome difficulties, develop inner strengths or skills, or make changes in themselves or their situations. The goal is to help the teen attain a heightened sense of identity, self-worth, purpose, and empowerment on one hand, and clarity about how the world and relationships work on the other.
“When another person makes you suffer, it is because he suffers deeply within himself, and his suffering is spilling over. He does not need punishment, he needs help.”
